4 Ways We Can Help Your Kids: Now Offering Pediatric Acupuncture in Boulder

Pediatric Acupuncture in Boulder

Gentle, supportive care for infants and children

We’re now offering pediatric acupuncture for infants and children up to age 11—gentle, age-appropriate care that’s always tailored to your child’s unique needs.

Our pediatric clinic is held on the first Monday of each month from 10:00am–12:30pm in our Boulder office, with a quieter, more relaxed pace so there’s time to settle in and not feel rushed.

What does pediatric acupuncture look like?

It’s very different from adult care.

Children tend to respond quickly, so treatments are usually:

  • Short and gentle
  • Often needle-light—or completely needle-free
  • Adjusted in real time based on your child’s comfort

We might use:

  • Very fine needles (often just for a minute or two, if at all)
  • Shonishin, a needle-free Japanese technique using light touch
  • Acupressure
  • Cupping when it feels appropriate
  • Simple guidance for things you can do at home

There’s no one way it has to look—we follow your child’s lead.

4 Ways We Can Support Your Child

Every child is different, but there are a few patterns we see often. Pediatric acupuncture can be a gentle way to support:

1. Sleep that feels more settled
If your child has trouble falling asleep, wakes frequently, or never seems fully rested, we can help support more consistent, regulated sleep.

2. Digestion that feels easier
From colic and reflux in infants to stomachaches or irregular digestion in older kids, we work to gently support the digestive system so things feel more comfortable.

3. Big feelings and nervous system regulation
For kids who feel anxious, sensitive, easily overwhelmed, or have trouble settling, treatment can help support a greater sense of ease and regulation.

4. Immune support and getting sick less often
If your child tends to catch everything going around or has frequent colds, we can help strengthen overall resilience and recovery.

What to expect at your first visit

We keep things simple, collaborative, and responsive to your child.

Before your visit, you’ll complete a short intake so we have a sense of what’s going on.

During the visit, we’ll:

  • Talk through your child’s health history, development, and current concerns
  • Move at your child’s pace
  • Offer a gentle treatment that feels appropriate for them

Some children are comfortable with needles, while others prefer needle-free approaches—and both are completely okay. Everything is adapted so your child feels safe.

You’ll also leave with a clear sense of what we did and what to expect afterward.

You’re part of the process

You’ll be with your child the entire time.

We want this to feel like a conversation, not something happening to your child. Questions, observations, and feedback are always welcome.

Depending on what’s going on, we may also share:

  • Simple acupressure techniques you can use at home
  • A few supportive shifts for sleep, digestion, or regulation
  • Guidance on treatment frequency

Scheduling

Pediatric appointments are available:

First Monday of the month
10:00am – 12:30pm
Boulder office

We keep the schedule intentionally limited so each family has enough time and space. Booking ahead is recommended.

Is this a good fit?

This can be a helpful option if:

  • You’re looking for gentle, supportive care alongside medical treatment
  • Your child has patterns that keep coming up (sleep, digestion, anxiety, immune support)
  • You’re drawn to a more holistic, body-based approach

Pediatric acupuncture is complementary care—it doesn’t replace your child’s medical care. We’re always happy to collaborate with your pediatrician when needed.

If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help you think it through.

A few common questions

Is it safe?
Yes. Care is always adapted for age, sensitivity, and comfort.

Will my child feel the needles?
The needles are extremely fine and used briefly. Many children tolerate them well, and we also offer completely needle-free options.

How many visits will we need?
It depends on your child and what’s going on. Some concerns shift quickly, others benefit from more consistent support.

Can we do this alongside medical care?
Absolutely. This is designed to work alongside conventional treatment, not replace it.
